Our patio came out amazing and we get tons of compliments. It looks like it should have always been there. Eric and his crew did a fantastic job rebuilding a 100+ year old retaking wall that was failing. They removed each stone, numbered them and rebuilt them in the exact same location as they were originally set, making the wall look as it did when it was originally built. The patio installed by previous homeowners was sinking in several spaces and not sloped to drain correctly away from the house. Eric was able to do a temp repair to help until the team could arrive in the fall. We had a concrete porch and walkway replaced with hardscape pavers and are extremely happy with the final results. The wait time for the project to get off the ground was longer than expected but the completed project exceeded our expectations and made the extended wait worth it. Eric checked in almost daily once the project was underway and made sure the job met his high standards. The workers were friendly and kept us informed about what they were going to do each day. They were meticulous and came back and corrected little areas that they felt needed to be tweaked. We also had them repair a few areas on our patio (installed about 12 years ago) where pavers had settled and where large tree roots pushed pavers out of place. When looking at stone, we were handed a list of recommended contractors. We contact almost all, but only two responded for an estimate and Hardscape followed through. We could not be happier with the crew, the professionalism and the beautiful end result. The owner was on top of the project; he would text me to let me know their start date, when there was a delay with the delivery of stone (due to the recent snow storm), what they would be doing each day. The owner took the time to meet with us to ensure we were happy with the direction they were going with in laying of the stone. The project was to have three tree planters along a hill across the front of the house. Not only was there a hill but the sidewalk and street slope down across the front. With this being the front focus for the house I was nervous. After a long search for a pro that didn't try to sell me a big upgraded project, Eric was the only one that listened to what I was searching for, and provided very constructive suggestions. Although the work was delayed due to scheduling and weather, the crew did an excellent job and didn't try to rush things through. I was more interested in having the job done right rather than getting it done. The crew worked hard and ensured all of the cap blocks were mitered and flush. I believe that the price was excellent for the work done. If you don't want a hard sell, are not impatient, want high quality work, and want someone that can give good recommendations for the project, Hardscape Artists is a great choice. We hired Hardscape Artists to demo an existing patio and install an expanded patio with pavers and add a fire pit with a bench. Eric and his team were consummate professionals. The finished product exceeded our expectations. Almost as important, the team was incredibly responsive and considerate of any and all questions along the way. Our project entailed removing an existing composite deck and replacing with pavers. Additionally, we asked the team to build a horizontal wooden fence + Fire Pit to frame the space. Complicating the process was the fact that we live in a Philly row home where the only access to the back yard is a narrow breezeway… Other contractors either balked @ the project entirely or presented expensive proposals due to the access challenges noted above….Eric and his team went in the other direction. They worked towards solutions rather than presenting the problems. We exchanged numerous drafts and considered numerous alternatives as we worked around the pros and cons of cheaper or more expensive components of the project. We had a budget in mind and Eric was a great resource to figure out where we needed to spend money and where we could save a few…. Overall, I was very impressed with the team’s skill and even more impressed with their accessibility and willingness to adjust on the fly. Project - Build retaining wall - 3ft high on one end and 7ft on other, 60 ft long. This was not cookie cutter retaining wall, this was cantilever wall which was supporting lateral load, pressure from the street. This job required 4 ft wide and 3 ft deep footing, not a standard house footing. Even access to the property was very limited. Eric, owner of the company did the work professionally and on time. We emailed them about a month ago about just some small maintenance issues we'd had with some stones coming loose from our sitting wall. Within a couple weeks, they sent their foreman out to take a look. Not only did Eric's team come out free of charge to fix those loose stones for us, they noticed while they were here that a few pavers were slightly off-kilter so they fixed those as well without us having to even ask.
